My name is Teresa Susko and I’m happy you found your way here. I am a board certified licensed Acupuncturist (NCCAOM) and licensed by New York state. I received a Master of Science Degree in Acupuncture from New York College of Health Professions
I am a warm, caring practitioner who enjoys helping others and am grateful to be able to do so with acupuncture. In my holistic approach to wellness, I will take the time to listen to your concerns about your health and will develop a treatment plan that is customized to meet your individual needs, both physical and emotional. The goal of acupuncture is to assist the body’s innate ability to restore its natural balance and return to a state of wellness.
What led me to become an acupuncturist? While I was in the massage therapy program I was taught a massage that is based in Traditional Chinese Medicine. I loved that class and fell in love with Chinese medicine, and the healing that is possible with it. I began to feel a inner calling to study it. One day I went to the acupuncture clinic at the school for my first treatment. I remember thinking I had no idea what I was going to be treated for as I wasn’t in any physical pain or discomfort. As we went over the intake form the practitioner asked me about my emotions. I explained to her that I wasn’t feeling like myself since my father passed away several months ago. I told her my grief was less, but I felt foggy, scattered and had some difficulty concentrating. At the time I thought acupuncture was mainly used to alleviate physical pain, but I learned that the body, mind and spirit are not separate and acupuncture is very helpful in treating emotional struggles like anxiety, stress, grief, and depression. A day or two after the treatment I had more clarity and the fog lifted. When I was dealing with anxiety acupuncture helped tremendously. That is when I knew it was time to answer the inner calling and continue my education in the acupuncture program. It is my desire to help people heal emotionally and physically, and with this wonderful medicine I know it is possible. I am grateful that I followed my heart. I take pride in practicing this amazing healing art of acupuncture with you.
